Busy Saturday

We had a crazy busy day Saturday.  We only took three pictures the whole day, though.  It was partially due to battery issues, but also because we were enjoying ourselves too much to be whipping the camera out all the time.  Anyway, these three pics must stand to represent everything.

First, Quinn's baby friend Alea was in town (she brought her mom and dad with her).  We all hit the playground.  This pic is of them climbing on a dinosaur in the toddler area.  They quickly moved on to the big kid area, though.  Quinn had several falls that freaked me out, but came up smiling every time.

After a nap, we headed to this weekend's Catholic festival.  It was the one in Upper Arlington, so it was very uppity and done to the nines.  Big rides.  Real fair food.  A silent auction AND and white elephant sale.  This ride is called "Swinger" -- do you think the name caused any gasps among the church ladies?

After the fest, we headed to a party at co-worker Tracy's house.  Her BFF was visiting from Australia (she married an Aussie) and she wanted us all to meet her.  We had a good time and lots of great food.  Quinn spent the whole time going up and down these concrete stairs.  Many thank yous to everyone who helped us baby-wrangle last night (like Tanya in this pic).

Quinn is shocked!

We had a lovely late lunch with our friends Beth and James and their adorable daughter Alea earlier this week. We took a bunch of pictures and got a lot of funny ones. Sadly, no cutey shots with both girls looking at the camera a smiling. I almost like the funny ones better, though.

In this picture, Quinn is actually panting (what she does when she's excited), but the effect is somewhat different.

Yeah, so Megan put upon me to tell the registry story from BRU last night. At the time I was somewhere between crying and spitting nails. I've sorta gotten over it now because it was just bad customer service from an ignorant person. Although it IS sorta pissy.

So we went last night to pick up our glider (details in [info]meglett's journal). When the friend we were with was going through the line, I decided that I would go print our registry. I was sort of interested to know how many of the things that we had selected online were physically available in the store.

Anyway, I do the standard shortened name entry for a registry (MCG H OH) and surprisingly there were over 10 of that combination listed, but no me. It does come up under Megan (whew!). I knew that Megan was the "registrant" and that I was the "co-registrant" so I thought maybe somehow I didn't get linked in. Thus, I went up to the desk to inquire.

I explain to the woman that the registry was not coming up under my name and that since we registered online (and both names ARE searchable online) that maybe something needed to be fixed in the computer. She looks up my name. Indeed it isn't there in her system. She looked a little befuddled. I told her that it DID come up under the other name and maybe she would like to find it that way.

(By this time there are 3 or so folks standing around/filling out paperwork that had stopped to listen)

I told her Megan's name. She looks at me incredulously and says "That's completely different." Um, yeah.
So she types it in and it comes up. She informs me that had she known that I was the co-registrant and not the registrant that she could have found me in her magical electric box.

I actually felt like we were making headway now, but I was wrong. I told her that I would like for both of our names to be searchable in the kiosk thing *because* they were so very different. That didn't sink in. She told me that my name a searchable online. I said that wasn't what I was asking about. Then she said that since we signed-up online that we'd have to fix it online. To her, fixing it meant switching the order of the names (thus apparently making Megan's name unsearchable). She seemed to have nothing else to offer so I left.

*sigh*

It totally isn't a big deal, but I was already so riled from the "somebody already picked up your chair" incident (in meg's journal) that I was cheesed about it the whole way home.

Why the hell would they even ASK if there is a second "registrant" if there isn't a way to find the name without talking to the bitchy/busy woman at the desk? People have very different names ALL THE TIME. Does BRU not see this as a problem?

Ok, rant over.
